I'm betting LFS will get Vive support first.įor the best experience, sim devs will need to code not just for the specific headset, but also for the GPU. Devs will need to add support for the Vive separately, now that won't be as hard as adding VR support starting from nothing but it's not clear how much work will be involved.

Lastly, it's unlikely the Vive will just work with Rift specific implementations of VR on our sims.

nVidia looks to have a big lead when it comes to drivers for VR but it remains to be seen if developers will take advantage of the nVidia (or AMD) specific optimizations. Keep in mind that in the short run the performance enhancements will be very GPU specific. The nVidia VR SLI drivers just came out and I'm hoping I can just add another 970.

At 90hz and higher resolution you will need a monster rig. CV1 will solve all of these problems and the panel is much better even outside of resolution, so long term use will improve. The resolution bump will be nice but the big thing will be the ergonomics. It is pretty great but I would advise waiting for the CV1 early next year, rumors are Jan. The investment is most certainly worth it.

I'll be pre-ordering CV1 the minute it becomes available and also have a PC upgrade planned before the end of this year to be able to cope with VR. CV1 requires a GTX970 or better in order to provide a good experience.Īs for tiredness, I've owned my DK2 since February and I have no issues with getting tired any more and have never got any eye strain.

The DK2 has a few flaws - the resolution is too low so you loose vision not too far ahead, also GPU power requirements are far higher compared to using monitors - you're rendering 1080p twice (once for each eye) at 75fps for smooth movement. ISI have confirmed rF2 will have support once Oculus stop changing the runtimes so much and no doubt those already supporting it will improve their support over time. IRacing - I had 3 days to try it before my subscription ran out, it seemed pretty good, but at that point I was still tweaking pretty much everything to get the best VR experience so can't judge it fairly. PCARS - Has so much potential, but my PC isn't up to it in VR mode (i5 2500k, GTX770). I looked out of the passenger side window to see the tree approaching and flinched. My first try in RBR in VR I lost the car over a jump and spun towards a tree. Richard Burns Rally - Modded support from Kegetys, but also very, very well implemented, hurtling through trees flat out is a different (and incredibly fun!) experience in VR.

I've always had a soft spot for LFS, racing around South City with 20+ other lunatics in the XFG/XRG is slightly frightening on lap 1 in VR.Įuro Truck Simulator 2 - My favourite VR game so far, ETS2 was a great game on a screen just to spend an hour or 2 relaxing, in the Rift it's something else! I've lost 3-4 hours at a time lost in VR driving around Europe. TweakSetupSkin How to Install Mods:1 Extract the RAR or ZIP file.2 Copy the files into the folder named data in the directory where the game is installed.3 Run the game.

Because it's not a graphically taxing sim it runs at exactly the same settings you use on your monitor. Live for Speed - Probably the best overall implementation out there. I really hope Kunos get their implementation updated so it's more seamless. :)Īssetto Corsa - It's a tacked on implementation which can be a bit of a pain to set up, but once configured and in-game in a car it's amazing, Countless times I've not driven anywhere and just looked around the cockpit trying to press buttons. Brain overload - yes it's a lot to take in, in a very good way. As long as you maintain 75fps motion sickness is not an issue for me. I've not had any issues with motion sickness personally, unless the game I play stutters. Having a static reference point in front of you (car dashboard/cockpit) makes you appreciate the sense of speed, the immersion is spot on. Most devs appear to be planning to support VR going forward and sim racing is definitely one of the best markets for VR.Ĭockpit based gaming is (at this time) the best use for VR.
